Lost Wax Carving Jewellery Making
Workshop with Ania Wawrzkowicz
Saturday 27 June 2026, 10.30am - 4.30pm
£75
Venue: MAKE Southwest
Suitable for: Adults
Level: All Abilities
Carve your own one-of-a-kind ring or pendant, ready for casting, with jeweller and MAKE Southwest Maker Member, Ania Wawrzkowicz.
Handcrafted jewellery is unique, precious and meaningful - and it’s even more special if you’ve made it yourself!
This workshop is an exciting opportunity to discover the old technique of Lost Wax Carving in order to create beautiful bespoke pieces such as rings, pendants or any other small jewellery object.
As a professional maker, Ania will guide you through the process so you can relax, get creative and enjoy the experience.
Ania's jewellery comes from her observations of the natural world, from the largest expanses down to the smallest particle. Her work is sculptural, given depth by detailed surface textures, intricate shapes and uneven sculptural qualities."
Workshop outline:
During the session, you will be carving your very own unique piece using jewellers wax, with a selection of specialised tools. The design is very literally in your hands, and I will be there every step of the way to make sure your ideas come to life. While some go classic and minimal, others imprint using shells, stones or even bark from meaningful places, so feel free to bring inspiring items with you.
Once you have finished carving, you will then be shown how to prepare the item for casting, so it is ready to be reproduced in gold, silver or another metal of your choice.
Please note: as this is a one-day course, we will only be working in wax. The cast itself is done later and Ania is happy to advise on the best possible options for metals, and corresponding costs, as well as recommending the caster.
Below is a rough breakdown of the total cost of casting:
Casting: £10
Finishing: £10
Silver: £10 to £40 depending on the weight of the ring
Postage: £10
All prices subject to VAT
We can weigh your wax ring at the end of the workshop to give us a clear idea of the cost in metal.
This workshop is open to all levels including absolute beginners.
