The Poetry of Landscape

Workshop with Mark Haworth-Booth

Part of the Responding to Light photography events collection.

Saturday 28 October 2023, 2pm - 3.30pm

£16

Venue: MAKE Southwest

Suitable for: Adults

Poet and artist Mark Haworth-Booth will lead this workshop on connecting photography and verse.

This workshop will look at a number of classic poems inspired by photographs but also look at how the application of strict rules - from the 'decisive moment' to the sonnet - can inspire creativity.

Mark will bring along some original photographs to inspire participants, including works by Bill Brandt, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Paul Caponigro and Tessa Traeger. Photo of MHB by Tessa Traeger.

This event is part of a programme of talks and workshops around the exhibition Responding to Light: the diversity of modern photography, at MAKE Southwest, 16 September - 4 November 2023.

The exhibition will showcase some of the huge range of techniques, subjects, and skills associated with contemporary British photography, including digital and analogue technologies, in large and small scales, 2D and 3D forms.

There is an extensive programme of events around this exhibition, including talks and masterclasses with most of the exhibitors. Please see our other events.

Please note, we have a specific cancellation policy for all events associated with this exhibition due to the distances speakers will be travelling. View cancellation policy HERE.
