Paper Marbling and Bookmaking

Workshop with ROCWORX

Wednesday 22 November 2023, 10am - 4pm

£75

Venue: MAKE Southwest

Suitable for: Adults

Level: All Levels

Join Rachel O’Connell from Rocworx for a paper marbling and bookmaking workshop.

Learn the endangered heritage craft of marbling and simple bookbinding.

During the morning, you will learn four marbling patterns, plus tips on how to prepare your paper, type of paper to use and tools to marble with.

After lunch you will use your papers to make a simple stitched book with a bookmark, a folded concertina book and a Japanese bound book.

No experience of marbling or bookbinding is necessary and all materials will be provided for this workshop.

There will be a short lunchbreak during the workshop schedule (to allow drying time for marbled papers).

On the Day

All tools and materials will be provided, but please wear old clothes.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are included and will be available on the day. Lunch will not be provided so please bring a packed lunch.

On arrival, please make your way to the side gate of the Riverside Mill, through the courtyard and up the stone stairs on the side of the building. Please let us know if you require the lift.

Please be aware that you cannot use the Co-op car park for all day parking. The Methodist Church car park and Station Road car park usually have plenty of spaces
