Venue: MAKE Southwest

Suitable for: Children & Families

Level: Beginner

Join Rachel O’Connell from ROCWORX for a creative workshop suitable for children and families.

A great introduction to marbling and origami, combining skills of pattern making, mark making and 3D paper construction. Children will learn about the decline in butterflies and their importance for the environment.

  • Children will marble prepared paper, two children per tray, taking turns to create patterns. We will hang marbled papers to dry for them to take away.

  • Children will then colour and mark pre-cut paper, using acrylic pens and learn to fold paper into an origami butterfly

  • With parental help where required, students will thread a needle with clear wire and thread through their butterfly*

  • As instruction booklet will be given with their origami paper at the end of their session, for them to continue making more butterflies at home.

*a sharp awl will be used by the tutor to make a small hole for children to thread wire through their butterfly.

Each ticket purchased will provide enough materials for one attendee.

We ask that children under the age of 10 are accompanied by an adult and have hands-on support.

Workshop capacity: 10 attendees plus accompanying adults.
