Discover the ancient art of paper marbling in this introductory workshop.
Learn the techniques used to create unique and beautiful marbled heritage patterns on paper, while experiencing the therapeutic benefits of this meditative process. Perfect for adults looking to explore their creativity and learn a new skill.
This is a fun, fast paced workshop, where you will be required to stand over the marbling bath. If you have a disability, please let the gallery so we may set up the workshop to accommodate your needs.
Your tutor is Rachel O’Connell who has over 30 years of experience of marbling and has taught in schools, community groups, galleries and museums.
Rachel marbles on textiles, including leather and paper, creating wearable art, home décor and stationery. She exhibits nationally and her work can be found in galleries, independent retailers and The National Museum. She has work in the British Museum’s Spring Exhibition and will be at London Craft Week in May.
All materials, an apron and gloves are provided.
We suggest wearing old shoes in case paint splashes!
On the Day
All tools and materials will be provided. Please wear old clothes.
Tea, coffee and soft drinks are included and will be available on the day. Our Café is also open should you wish to purchase other refreshments during the workshop - all participants receive a 10% discount voucher for food and drink purchased on the day.
On arrival, please make your way to the side gate of the Riverside Mill, through the courtyard and up the stone stairs on the side of the building. Please let us know if you require the lift.
Please be aware that you cannot use the Co-op car park for all day parking. The Methodist Church car park and Station Road car park usually have plenty of spaces. Click here for more information on our location and car parking for the day.
