Portraiture in Fabric Collage & Hand Embroidery

Workshop with Amanda Glendenning

Thursday 13 July 2023, 10.30am - 4pm

£75

Venue: MAKE Southwest

Suitable for: Adults

Level: All levels

Join Amanda Glendenning for a fabric collage and hand embroidery workshop where you will explore the theme of portraiture.

Amanda Glendenning will lead a one-day workshop teaching you how to use both fabric collage and hand embroidery to create portraiture works.

Learn how to create textile portraits from photographs and sketches, using layers of fabrics and stitches to build up a likeness on a simple embroidery hoop. Basic fabrics, threads, hoops etc. will be provided, but please do bring a portrait photograph and any scraps of fabric from home that have particular significance to you.

Your portrait photograph can be a self-portrait, a picture of a family member, or a photograph of a friend. This will help add layers of meaning, memory, and connection to the works we will create. Portrait photographs brought to the workshop can be digital or printed.

This workshop is open to beginners and also people with experience of embroidery.
