MAKE Southwest is hosting a series of six free workshops for young makers from 18 August to 3 September 2022.

Places must be booked in advance, first come, first served. Due to the limited maximum number of participants, we are only allowing two tickets per household for our summer holiday workshops.

Relief Printmaking

Thu 18 Aug, 10am - 1pm

Using Polystyrene tiles and water-based inks this workshop will teach you the art of reduction relief printmaking, producing a multi-coloured print at the end. The minimum of equipment is required, it’s easy to learn, fun and a little messy. You will be printing by hand and using a press. 

All ages are welcome and all materials are provided.  

Maximum number of participants is 8. 

This workshop is run by Sarah Morris a printmaker and MAKE Southwest member.

T-shirt Customising

Thu 18 Aug, 1:30pm - 3:30pm

Join Mend Assembly for an afternoon no-sew t-shirt customisation workshop.

You need to bring: 

A t-shirt or other stretchy jersey garment and your creativity. This session will be a creative session for you to upcycle a garment into something truly unique to you. We'll be cutting, hand stitching and fabric painting our stretch garments, giving them a new lease of life. No sewing experience necessary

Open to ages 13+  Maximum number is 10.

Denim Upcycling

Thu 25 Aug, 1:30pm - 3:30pm

Join Mend Assembly for an afternoon denim upcycling workshop.

You need to bring:

A denim garment and your creativity. In this session we'll be upcycling a denim garment using a mix of machine sewing, sashiko stitching, fabric painting and patching. No sewing experience necessary, although we'll have machines available for those wishing to use them.

Open to ages 13+  Maximum number of participants is 10.

 

Mosaic Workshop

Thu 01 Sep, 1:30pm - 4pm

Learn how to make a Mosaic in this workshop with artist Michelle McQuinn.

Participants will make their own small mosaic tile to take home. During the workshop you will learn how to cut and lay mosaic tiles onto your chosen design using mosaic nippers. You will learn the importance of contrasting colours when choosing your own personal colours and how to lay the tiles in a jig-saw method onto your design.

This workshops is suitable for ages 10+. Maximum of 10 participants.

Naturemake Workshop

Sat 03 Sep, 10am - 12pm

Join Naomi for a magical making experience where you will design and make your own, miniature model of dreams with an inspiring array of foraged natural materials. Fairy houses, fantastical dwellings, enchanted treehouses... Let your imagination run wild!

Open to all ages - children under 8 to be accompanied by an adult.

Naturemake Workshop
