A northerner now based in Devon, Kathryn is an artist exploring innovative approaches to the traditional screen-printing process, creating textured, one-of-a-kind art prints. Her work is driven by a fascination with the tactile qualities of surfaces, combining form, texture, and dynamic visual narratives through experimentation.

With a background in Textile Crafts (BA Hons) completed in the early 2000s, Kathryn’s journey back to artistic creation has been shaped by her experiences in teaching and mental health support. These roles inform her process, emphasising experimentation, continuous skill development, and an exploration of the interplay between colour, wellbeing, and the energy of place.

Kathryn’s technique involves crafting textured surfaces and stencils that interact with the screen, allowing residual textures to then be imprinted onto the paper. This process, which captures the “textural ghost” of the original surface, results in unique prints that cannot be fully replicated.

Her recent work expands on this foundation, incorporating elements of colour, light, and playfulness to complement and balance the intensity of her darker, more textural forms.
