Devon Tapestry Weavers: Open Day

Thursday 20 July 2023, 12pm - 2.30pm

FREE

Suitable for: Adults

Level: All levels

Join the Devon Tapestry Weavers to learn about their group and have a go at tapestry weaving!

Devon Tapestry Weavers have been meeting for over 30 years and have recently moved to MAKE Southwest where you are welcome to come and visit us at our Open Day.

Some forms of textiles are mistakenly called ‘tapestry’, such as needlepoint, canvas work or embroidery - as in the Bayeux tapestry - but traditional tapestry is woven on a loom using warp and usually a variety of weft threads to produce an image. It is an inexpensive hobby requiring only a frame, yarn and your imagination.

Devon Tapestry Weavers continue this centuries old practice with a more contemporary twist but still using same the process – although with much smaller looms! If you come and visit us on July 20th we will have looms and yarn for you to play with and you will be able to chat to members and see our work.

All materials will be provided.

For more information on tapestry weaving, have a look at The British Tapestry Group website: thebritishtapestrygroup.co.uk
