Laura Drayson creates contemporary jewellery; crafting pieces of delicate and detailed wearable sculptures, embracing the natural attraction we have to the patterns and textures found in nature.

Encompassing the natural forms and weathering of the geology and coastal footpaths, her work is informed and connected through drawing in materials. Working in precious metals, with gemstones she has hand cut to the form and shape of the landscape, to develop collections of work enveloped in the influence of the Cornish coastline.

Laura gathers inspiration from the rugged cliffs and coast paths of North Cornwall. The natural composition of the tideline and coastal landscape, with its rich history of mining and natural geology. Natures form and texture informing the development of the sculptural jewellery. Incorporating gemstones and found materials as an inclusion of texture and colour. As in nature, each piece of work is individual, a one of a kind narrative, to be worn.

Laura studied BA Hons Contemporary Crafts, in University College Falmouth. Graduating with a First Class Degree, she now works in her studio, on the wild north coast of Cornwall. With a background in large installations, she is transferring her skills into pieces of wearable sculptures, all one of a kind and a direct connection to her inspiration.
