Sarah Drew

Sarah Drew | Jewellery | Cornwall

Sarah has been making contemporary jewellery from found objects since 2000: she combines beach finds with sustainable semi-precious stones, hammered eco-silver, recycled gold and re-purposed brass.

She lives in St Austell, Cornwall where she spends a lot of time outdoors on local beaches, disused Clay pits and in the woods with her family and dog Bert, collecting beach plastic, sea-glass, driftwood, ghost--net, twigs, Cornish semi-precious stones and rusty metal.

Using recycled materials and ‘rubbish’ is a sustainable way of creating unique pieces that aren’t a strain on new resources and whose material components are traceable.

She likes to challenge ideas of preciousness by combining found materials with precious metal and stones so that they are appreciated in the same way: suggesting we recycle plastic as comprehensively as gold.

As well as selling her jewellery through over 50 stockists in the UK, USA, France and Hong Kong Sarah teaches workshops locally and at West Dean College in Chichester; she set up a group for South West women artists in 2019, Terramater Art along with painter Karen McEndoo. They’ve exhibited at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, the Royal Cornwall Museum in Truro, Trebah Gardens and the Penwith Gallery in St Ives.
