Jo Entwistle*
Jo Entwistle | Baskets - Weaving | Somerset
Jo discovered her passion for basket weaving after attending a couple of day workshops. She became enamoured with the process, the mindful nature of a continuous weave and the joy of creating something with a practical use, out of a pile of willow rods.
Wishing to hone her skills further and learn more about this Heritage Craft, she completed a City & Guilds Level 2 in Basketry...gaining a "distinction" overall.
Today Jo grows her own willow on her smallholding in Somerset or uses willow that is grown commercially on the Somerset Levels.
Somerset Art Works awarded Jo with an "Emerging Maker" bursary in the Spring of 2025 which allowed her to further her learning with some of the great basket makers found in the UK.
Last year, Jo took part in the Somerset Art Works Open Studios event, exhibited at the Zig Zag building in Glastonbury and had a basket chosen to be part of the 2026 Legacy in Making: Somerset Craft Guild Past, Present and Future exhibition at the Somerset Rural Life Museum.
Today Jo runs workshops, and loves nothing more than being able to pass on this beautiful craft to others.
