Incredibly passionate about willow basketry, natural materials and traditional craftsmanship, designer - maker - teacher Sarah Le Breton concentrates on handcrafting work that marries heritage basket forms and English weaving techniques with innovative ideas, in so doing creating a range of stylish products for modern living.
In her mid Devon workshop, Sarah creates whole willow and rush chair seating, lighting features and heritage inspired baskets. Both in her making and in her teaching, Sarah uses only locally grown willow and rush materials, some of which she harvests herself.
Sarah deliberately develops products that involve a higher skill set, ability and level of technique. Through driving up the demand and prices for such work, Sarah’s aim is to assist in facilitating a decent living wage for basketmakers, enabling the highly skilled techniques and knowledge of her craft form to reach future generations.
Within every piece she weaves, it is Sarah’s aim to find and offer to you a magical combination of form, function, beauty and flow.
