Cast glass Jewellery & Sculpture with a coastal connection

Sustainably made, with consciously sought reused & recycled materials.

Amy lives on the South West coast of Devon in the UK. From Poole she grew up in a harbour town by the sea. Paddling, beach combing & swimming from an early age. Now swimming is still a preferred pastime and beach cleaning has become the norm. Amy is pro-glass over plastic as a way to lessen our impact on the planet.

The textural surfaces of rusty rings and weathered rope tethering boats inspire Amy's range of cast glass chain & rope jewellery. Her 'Mooring' collection of interlinked glass loops are combined with soft recycled cotton. Amy stitches and then uses a traditional rope joining method called whipping, as a nod to Plymouth’s Nautical heritage as one of three rope making sites in the UK.

As a part of the Green Maker initiative and a member of Surfers Against Sewage Amy is actively looking for ways to improve her systems of making these include; recasting and using recycled glass, using 100% recycled cotton rope or hand woven hemp cord. And lowering her carbon footprint with steam & reuse of wax instead of the ‘burn out’ method.
