£35

Venue: MAKE Southwest

Suitable for: Adults

Join Karen Bowskill from Tideline Prints, to hand print your own present wrapping cloth in time for Christmas!

This popular way to wrap gifts from Japan, is a wonderful eco-friendly alternative to massed produced wrapping paper.

Using plastic collected from our beautiful Devon beaches and non-toxic ink, you will block print a large wrap, perfect for the festive season and beyond.

All materials are provided in this fun and relaxed workshop and a follow up worksheet will be provided for you to practice your wrapping techniques at home.

Printmaking can get messy, so it is advisable to bring an old towel for hand drying and wear old clothes.

About Tideline Prints

“My aim is to challenge our perception of waste by transforming it into beautiful products. I regularly clean my local beaches of washed-up plastic and use my finds to create unique printing blocks. These are combined with reclaimed leathers and linens to become luxury bags and home textiles. Everything I use from the thread to the trimmings is reclaimed.

I've been fascinated with found objects since I was a young child. I would spend hours playing and making with my everyday treasures. This love for invention and creativity led me to Art College, and continued until I specialised in Printmaking.

Now a parent with a young family, I live on the clifftops of a small fishing village on the east coast of Devon. After wild winter storms, our local beaches are littered with plastic, mostly items washed in from the MSC Napoli cargo spill in 2007.

Seeing this made me realise the need to rethink our take; make; waste approach to living.

I began thinking about how I could put this waste material to good use and the notion of Tideline Prints was born.”
