About Rachel O’Connell

I am a multi-media marbling artist, a sustainable maker and an educator. I marble on paper, textiles, including leather, and on wood. I love the diversity of marbling, creating leather goods, wearable textile art, home decor, lighting and stationery. Marbling is a surface pattern originating in Japan over a thousand years ago and is now seen as an endangered craft.

ROCWORX

Marble A Christmas Bauble & Gift Packaging Workshop with Rocworx

If you love colour and pattern, you’ll love the mindful endangered heritage craft of marbling.

In this full day workshop, you will create stunning Christmas packaging, decorations and cards. You will marble on paper, learning basic patterns, to build a complex pattern to use to marble your own beautiful Christmas bauble and decoration papers.

After lunch, whilst your bauble dries, we will use your marbled papers to create a Christmas gift bag, cards and gift tags to take home with your gift wrap and bauble.

This workshop is a self-treat, a chance to play before the hectic preparations leading up to Christmas begin, to play with colour and pattern and have fun!

Your tutor, Rachel O’Connell, is a multi-media marbling artist and leatherworker. She has over 30 years marbling experience and has work in independent retailers, galleries and national museums.

She is a tutor for West Dean College, Oxford Summer School and runs workshops in schools, galleries and museums throughout the UK.

No previous experience of paper marbling is necessary.

All tools and materials will be provided.

Participants must be aged 18 years +.
