It all began back in 1984, around a kitchen table in north Cardiff. A small group of passionate makers, frustrated by the lack of opportunities to showcase and sell their work, decided to take matters into their own hands and so, The Makers Guild was born.
Today, The Makers Guild Wales is a Cardiff-based membership organisation and registered charity that champions Welsh craft makers inspiring, supporting, and celebrating excellence in applied arts and crafts.
From their home at Craft in the Bay, a beautiful Heritage building on Cardiff’s waterfront, they run a gallery shop filled with unique Welsh crafts, alongside a café, creative workshops, and community events.
Their co-operative ethos remains at the heart of everything they do. With over ninety maker-members from across Wales, the Guild represents a rich diversity of skills including jewellery, ceramics, textiles, metalwork, and furniture.
