Suitable for: All

Give materials a new life - and find something for your next project!

We’re embracing Great Big Green Week 2025’s theme of “let’s swap together for good” with our very own Materials Exchange Day, proudly hosted by our Green Maker Initiative.

This event is all about sharing, reusing, and reducing waste. Bring along any materials you no longer need and exchange them for something new-to-you—whether it’s fabric, wool, paper, wood, clay, or something unexpected!

Don’t Have Anything to Swap? Come Anyway!

You don’t need to bring materials to take part. Everyone is welcome to browse our ever-growing collection and take home anything you can make use of. We believe in keeping good materials in circulation—so whether you’re a maker, artist, teacher, or just curious, there’s something here for you.

What to Expect

  • Free to participate – no cost, no pressure

  • Open to all types of materials – though our current collection is mostly textiles

  • Sustainable impact – help keep good materials in circulation anLet out of landfill and support ‘swapping for good’

Location Details

  • Courtyard: If the weather’s fine, we’ll set up outside for a relaxed open-air exchange

  • Workshop Space (First Floor): In case of rain, we’ll move indoors so the event can go ahead comfortably

Why It Matters

Swapping is a small action that makes a big difference. By giving materials a second life, you're helping to reduce waste, save resources, and support a more circular economy—right here in your local creative community.

No booking required—just turn up, swap (or take) and make a difference!

This workshop is taking place on Great Big Green Week 2025; the UK’s biggest ever celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature. Discover what else is going on at MAKE Southwest and the rest of Bovey Tracey HERE.
