THE PANDEMIC EFFECT
Perhaps the title of my piece says it all! I finished it the week before lock down, it has hung on the wall of my studio these last few months giving me a n unusual opportunity to 'live' with one of my pieces.
I'm sure I don't need to explain how a mix of joy and over-riding global worry has affected me. Talking to others, I know I’m not alone in finding it a terrific struggle to continue creating my artwor k without my usual hectic schedule of exhibitions and shows that make up the majority of my year. I'm also not alone in having found a wonderful freedom to be creative in other ways totally guilt free! I've learned to knit and to make cheese, I’ve made pasta and started to keep chickens. I’ve built raised beds and grown veg, I've explored the local footpaths and made friends with neighbours and my local community....
I think I, like many people, have needed this time, to rest and stay still, to re - focus. To question what is important to me, how shall I go forward? Will things have changed? Was all that came before The Old Way?
