Trudie is a loom weaver, hand dyeing both her warps & weft.
She imbeds both colour & ideas into her woven silk canvases which, once off the loom, are stretched to restore tension & framed.
Having originally trained as an oboist & played in an orchestra abroad, Trudie took a textiles degree at Central St.Martin's.
Music, words & nature may form the starting point for her sketchbook, where Trudie plays with ideas freely. Then, colour & shape is translated into weave potential, warps are wound, ikat dyed, rolled onto the loom & threaded up.
Weaving is the rhythmical culmination of these processes, with the shuttle connecting all the separate threads together to form her canvas.
