Sam Pickard is a textile designer and craftswoman with over thirty years expertise in textile dyeing and printing. Her textiles celebrate the North Devon landscape where she lives and works and are screen printed in her South Molton workshop using environmentally sustainable Procion MX dyes.
Sam studied printed Textile Design (B.A.hons) at Camberwell School of Art and Crafts (1982-5) and after graduating, spent one year in India studying block-printed textiles following a Royal Society of Arts travel award.
In 2008, in order to gain expertise in digital design and printing, she gained an M.A. with distinction in Textile Design from Bath Spa University. Her textiles have twice been shortlisted for the British Design Awards & have been sold in shops and galleries in Europe and USA.
Sam has worked as a part time tutor in printed textiles at Bath Spa University from 2009-11, and as a short course tutor at West Dean college 2015-18.
