Pauline Cochrane

Bobbin Lace Making

Pauline Cochrane is a lace maker with nearly 50 years of experience in the craft. She has travelled widely to study and share lace making practices, and has taught extensively alongside her own work, passing on traditional techniques to new generations of makers.

Her practice is centred on Honiton and Torchon lace, while also extending across Bedfordshire, Belgian and other lace traditions. Her work reflects a deep understanding of both the technical precision and artistic expression within these forms. Through her teaching and practice, she has played a significant role in preserving and continuing the heritage of handmade lace. She remains an ongoing mentor to Nicholas, supporting the development of his work.
