Susan Brown

I am essentially a Landscape Photographer but occasionally enjoy pushing the boundaries.

I have 4 Grandchildren aged 2, 3, 4, and 5 and I sometimes feel very concerned about the legacy my generation are leaving them.

Having spent some time in Australia over the last few years I have witnessed searing temperatures well into the forties, droughts and forest fires and seen the devastation that they cause. This year they have been devastated by extraordinary flooding.

Here in the UK the weather has become more extreme. I have tried to find a way photographically to illustrate the world heating up. I found by changing images to the negative form changed the sandstone colours to lovely blues and cyan. I then looked at the hue and saturation and explored to see if there were any natural reds within the image to give an appearance of heat. Just by increasing reds I was amazed to see the images come to life with extreme colour.

I have therefore done a few images as prints on aluminium with a high gloss to emphasise the colour and have made a four minute audio visual.

So my entry is ‘Climate Change and Global Warming’
