This is a project begun in March which takes my free-machine embroidery in a new direction. I’ve taken away the base cloth to my work and made thread drawings which stand tall so they can cast shadows in sunshine but look attractive as textile pieces in soft light too. Cut out linen shapes enhance the story of each structure and bring colour to the pieces which collectively I call ‘Standing Stitches’. They stand on white wooden dome supports.
