Louise Scammell
I have drawn and photographed seaweeds underwater on the South Devon Coast during the many diving trips made either from the shore or our boat. I have made a series of monotypes describing some of the seaweeds I had seen whilst diving.
Britain has more than 600 different seaweeds, these twelve images represent less than a fiftieth of the species found in our waters…
I hope to convey the extraordinary luminous qualities and diversity of shapes of these aquatic plants, something missed when seeing them stranded on the shoreline.
