Tulip Field

£750

Handwoven rug

I made this rug during the Covid lockdown to keep me going through not seeing family and friends, especially my new-born granddaughter. Its unique design is based upon harvesting tulip flowers for spring – something I always crave coming out of the winter months. We always have tulip bulbs planted in lots of pots to come up after the daffodils.

Having this rug over the winter months was a breath of fresh air. Its colours and symmetry offer a sense of hope for the future and a calm way ahead.

Materials and processes:

A handwoven rug using a Krokbragd weave, finished with a traditional Philippine Edge and platted fringe.
Made from 100% linen warp and 100% wool weft.
