Jamie Lord | Sculpture | Somerset

Jamie Lord is an award-winning artist and modelmaker inspired by the intricate beauty of the natural world. Specialising in wildlife sculpture, Jamie’s work has earned accolades such as the 'Best Use of Creative Materials Award' at the national modelmaking event, New Blades. His pieces have been exhibited publicly, including at MAKE Southwest’s Jubilee Gallery.

Working with a wide range of materials, from oak and clay to hand-cut paper, Jamie builds depth and realism into each piece. Whether carving oak sea turtle shells or layering paper feathers, he adds meticulous detail to capture the essence of his subjects. His realistic style is shaped by his experiences living in the Cotswolds and Barcelona, where he drew inspiration from nature’s diversity.

Jamie places strong emphasis on observation, often working from life to study behaviour, anatomy, and movement. He believes that capturing a subject’s spirit goes beyond surface detail—when you look into one of his sculptures, it should feel as though it’s looking back.

A graduate of Arts University Bournemouth with a BA(Hons) in Modelmaking, Jamie honed his technical skills in storytelling through three-dimensional miniature art. His lifelike sculptures aim to spark emotional connections, making nature feel tangible, alive, and present.
