Christian O’Reilly

Christian O’Reilly makes furniture to be both practical and beautiful in equal measure.  He is passionate about elegant proportions, clean lines and the quality of surfaces. 

Integrity underpins all aspects of his work from designing to his dealings with his customers and suppliers. He cares about the details and spends time making pieces which are a joy to use. 

For this exhibition, he has focused on creating a piece which mixes traditional construction techniques with a more contemporary aesthetic and modern materials.   

The desk is constructed from European oak using mortise and tenon joinery. This gives immense strength and rigidity to the structure and ensures a greater longevity. The top of the desk is made from oak lipped ply and covered with a furniture grade linoleum. 

'I want to help create a workspace that encourages creativity and has a light, warm, inviting feel. It's a playful take on the old style school desk but for bigger kids.'
