Phil is a wood engraver and digital printmaker living in South East Cornwall, who draws inspiration from nature. When producing art he tries to create something that’s simple, fresh and alive, that captures the essence and beauty of landscape and wildlife.
His ideas are formed in sketchbooks, these are developed further into either digital art or wood engravings or both. Each new work inspires the next, combining new compositions and building on newly learnt techniques.
Phil has always been a creative and visual communicator, and has been a draughtsman, designer, technical illustrator, photographer, graphic designer and painter. He began wood engraving 2015, he enjoys the challenge of working small and the demands that the medium of wood engraving brings.
