Landscape photographer Paul Mitchell leads a one-day woodland photography masterclass.

This one-day masterclass, held 'in the field', will show Paul’s thought processes as to how he looks for compositions in woodland.

It will offer practical guidance on the use of filters in woodland including the most useful filter - a polariser! Paul will cover and recommend getting back to basics by using the camera in manual mode for both focussing and exposures, choosing the right focal length and aperture, and the importance of white balance. He will cover varying aspect ratios i.e. 2x3, 4x3, 1x1 etc.

Meeting point for this event is Fingle’s Bridge, EX6 6PW (What3Words: lows.compacts.ribs).

There is another opportunity to do this masterclass on Sunday 15 October, 10am-4pm, but at a different location.

This event is part of a programme of talks and workshops around the exhibition Responding to Light: the diversity of modern photography, at MAKE Southwest, 16 September - 4 November 2023.

The exhibition will showcase some of the huge range of techniques, subjects, and skills associated with contemporary British photography, including digital and analogue technologies, in large and small scales, 2D and 3D forms.

There is an extensive programme of events around this exhibition, including talks and masterclasses with most of the exhibitors. Please see our other events.

Please note, we have a specific cancellation policy for all events associated with this exhibition due to the distances speakers will be travelling. View cancellation policy HERE.
