Join Coterie Leather for a unique workshop where you will make your own pair of sneakers!
Create your own pair of hand stitched sneakers with Tracy Watkins from the award winning sustainable leather studio, Coterie Leather.
The most difficult part of this workshop is choosing your colours! You can make a low or high rise style with lots of options to make your sneakers unique. All materials are included in the price, you can choose from range of leather and printed hides. All our leather is ethically sourced, salvaged or rescued, a by-product from other industries. You will learn how to work with leather, cutting, preparing and hole punching, hand stitching your sneakers together with absolutely no previous skills necessary.
The soles fit both male and female, you just need to let us know your shoe size when booking. Don’t worry if you think you’re In between sizes as I always carry extra sizes. The soles are made from 60% natural rubber and avoid the use of glue. The insoles offer great arch support, whilst also having a microfibre top layer.
About your tutor
Founded on strong eco-conscious and sustainable ethics, Coterie Leather is an award winning sustainable leather studio. With over 20 years experience in the design trade, Tracy is passionate about minimizing waste and a circular economy.
Coterie Leather will also be exhibiting as part of our annul Under The Tree Exhibition: 18 November 2023 - 8 January 2024.
Under the Tree is an annual exhibition that takes place in our Jubilee Gallery at MAKE Southwest. With an informal, craft fair vibe, it provides a welcoming and festive shopping experience for our Christmas gift buying market. The show offers a fantastic variety of craft disciplines in small scale batch production alongside one-off unique pieces. It is a great opportunity for people to buy quality handmade gifts by talented craftspeople and an inspiring alternative to the high street and online shopping.
Once you have confirmed your booking please email tracy@coterieleather.co.uk with your shoe size by Monday 23rd of October 2023.
On the Day
All materials will be provided.
Tea, coffee and biscuits are included and will be available on the day. Lunch will not be provided so please bring a packed lunch.
On arrival, please make your way to the side gate of the Riverside Mill, through the courtyard and up the stone stairs on the side of the building. Please let us know if you require the lift.
Please be aware that you cannot use the Co-op car park for all day parking. The Methodist Church car park and Station Road car park usually have plenty of spaces
