Join Emma Sheriff for a creative and relaxing Free-Machine Embroidery workshop as part of The University of Exeter's Art of Fiction project.

Whether you’re a seasoned stitcher or a complete beginner, this session is perfect for anyone looking to explore the art of free motion embroidery using a sewing machine in a friendly and supportive environment. Emma will be on hand to offer guidance, tips, and techniques to help you bring your unique designs to life.

All materials and equipment will be provided, so just bring your creativity and enthusiasm!

The workshop is a part of research by the University of Exeter to uncover your creative stories and the creative lives of women who inspire you. You can use your new embroidery skills to inspire the sewing of your own fabric patch to add to our collaborative patchwork object, accompanied by a short story about the inspiration for your patch. For full details of how to participate visit The Art of Fiction project website.

This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill, meet fellow craft enthusiasts, and enjoy a couple of hours of artistic fun.

No prior experience is necessary.

Children aged 13 years old + are welcome to attend but must be accompanied by an adult throughout the workshop duration.

This workshop has been funded by The University of Exeter and the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC). Due to limited capacity we ask participants to contact us directly if they have advance knowledge that they can no longer attend the workshop , so we can offer the place to somebody else on our waiting list.
