This exhibition has been an opportunity to pause his production work, put time aside to explore new ideas and fully enjoy the making process. Playing with new forms, textures and materials, Ambrose has created a collection of furniture, kitchenware and lighting in his unique style. The process of collaborating with other crafts people has pushed new boundaries in Ambrose’s work and has created refreshing outcomes.
Ambrose is a woodsman based in Ashburton on the edge of Dartmoor. Using traditional craft techniques, he aims to make well designed objects for everyday use that will age gracefully. Each piece is crafted by hand using locally sourced wood that he cuts using a sawmill. Hand hewn textures and tool marks add a human warmth to his work.
