Wayne Victor Meeten | Jewellery | Devon

A designer Goldsmith Silversmith who holds a visiting professorship in Japan. Recognised by his peers to be a leading maker in his field internationally.

All works are finished to a high standard of craftsmanship. Using Japanese techniques, such as ‘hammer chasing’, and traditional British jewellery and silversmithing techniques and has carved a distinctive style.

His designs are highly influenced by his other passion Tai Chi Chuan and Chi Kung, flowing lines and fluidic autonomous forms. With a refined finish.

His partner is a FGA gemologist and they work closely to design works that incorporate gemstones that are ethically sourced.

The absolute perfection and precision I see in Wayne’s work clearly derive from the years he spent studying jewellery making techniques in Japan and from the tools he has fabricated to achieve the skills and aesthetics he acquired there. To me Wayne’s work embodies a perfect union of the rich heritage of centuries of outstanding British craftsmanship and design in silver with his very distinctive and expressive surface textures and patterns.
