Working in jewellery and 3D metals, Syann van Niftrik uses simple techniques, working directly into the material to allow intuition and abstract ideas to take hold.
Her joy in working metal is evident; drawing freely from her life, the built environment, the natural world and cultural experience. These pieces are either hammer formed to reveal subtle tactile shape or, made up of small repeated forms linked to create animal like movement.
Materials generally used are precious and non ferrous metals, but often in larger constructions, other materials are introduced as counterpoint
She exhibits widely in the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Spain, America and Japan.
