May/June/July/August 2020:

Isolation reduced our social lives to squares on a screen, representing the people and places we increasingly wished we could be with. Our household members became full time friends, colleagues, carers, tormentors, co-workers; usually all of the above, including our pets! We asked you to recreate a portrait of one of these squares; either of the faces you are living with, or the faces you are only seeing on screen.  Here we are showing some of the entries we had in all sorts of mediums and we asked the public to vote for their favourite portrait,see right!

The winners are in!

We had 140 entries, all of them unique. We especially enjoyed how many people had ‘had a go’ for the first time since childhood, and the number of entries from children and young people.

We have selected the most voted-for 12 portraits - marked below as FINALIST - and will be showing them in our gallery at Riverside Mill from 12 September – 1 November.

We have been touched by every one of the entries, and found stories, wisdom, truth, humour and incredible skill in them. We had an amazing nearly 800 votes.
