Roberta works mainly to commission making fused glass windows, lamps and wall art.
One of the delights of fused glass is that as the colours melt together the glass gets soft enough to also pick up texture from the kiln shelf (kilncarving). By cutting shapes in kiln fibre and scraping marks into plaster applied to the shelf before adding the glass she creates unique window panels where colour and texture enhance each other.
The interplay of colour and light is a source of endless fascination to her, and her work seems to take on a life of its own with the changing hours and seasons.
Clients include Plymouth Council, Franklyn Hospital, schools, pubs and restaurants as well as private customers.
She also makes smaller panels, bowls and candleholders which may be seen in the Make Southwest shop, and runs occasional classes from her studio in Totnes.
