Guest Maker: The Totnes Potters

The Totnes Potters is a small group of 12 potters, ceramic artists, sculptors and teachers, living and working in and around Totnes. The Totnes Potters was established in 2020 through a shared love of clay.
For this Guest Maker Opportunity at MAKE Southwest the Potters have a created a small collaborative exhibition called ‘Pour’ showcasing their individual styles and the diversity of clay.
The Group:
Caroline Aisher: Teacher of Ceramics. Works with stoneware hand building and throwing.
Lucy Bell: Teacher of Ceramics. Barrel-Fires thrown forms.
Alys Brooker: Teacher of Ceramics. Throws in stoneware and glazes with distinctive turquoise glazes.
Alison Hannah: Teacher of Ceramics. Thrown and slabwork using porcelain and stoneware decorated with original artwork.
Amanda Harvey: Ceramic Artist. Hand builds with a range of clay bodies and own glazes.
Jess Heard: Experimental potter who explores a range of clays and firing methods. Most at home on the wheel but increasingly plays around with altering pots when freshly thrown.
David Parsons: Thrown and slip-cast moulded stoneware, often delicately carved.
Nikki Smith: Detailed sgraffito pots with original designs on stoneware.
Janice Tall: Thrown and hand-built stoneware with highly unique glazes influenced by Janice’s background in science.
Verran Townsend: Teacher of Ceramics. Explorer of origins of clay and capturing work in stunning outdoor settings.
Julia Toy: Unique thrown and hand-built stoneware forms featuring elemental influences.
Paula Wilson: Working with found clay, Paula’s expertise as an Art Therapist influences her process.
