About Rosie
Rosie works as a multi-disciplinary artist and performer and has a professional arts, dance and theatre background. During this year Rosie was an artist in residence with RAMP at Ocean Studios in Plymouth and has just completed Studio Practice, a yearlong professional course with Newlyn Art School in Penzance.
Rosie’s practice is based around the interdisciplinary exploration and expression of rhythm, flow and movement through the body and natural environment merging art, dance, sound and live performance. Rosie draws on her rich creative dance and arts experience for stimulus, and takes inspiration from historical, cultural, and contemporary dance. Her main impetus is to highlight vital life force in the present moment allowing for creative flow and expression demonstrating it through live performance art, creating an environment for audiences to experience presence, connection, and immersion on a multi-dimensional sensory level.
Rosie is currently developing the Knowing Body a performance art piece in which ideas are transcribed into a visual language of rhythmic mark making, sequence and pattern, using parts of the body (feet, arms, legs, etc) onto large scrolls using a wide range of mediums and recycled materials. For the ‘Flow State’ Exhibition Rosie has created a large scroll panel that depicts repetitive movement patterns from Greek folk dance and music combined with dancing figurines that accentuate rhythmic dynamic and flow. The artwork also forms part of a live performance where intervals of movement, music and dance will take place during the exhibition opening and the exhibition run.
