What are we looking for?
You do not need a craft or arts background or any particular qualification to be a Trustee but you do need to have an interest in and enthusiasm for MAKE Southwest’s work. We want to have the necessary skill set on our Board to support our vision. Members of the Board need to have a strong interest in our work, expertise in their professional field and time available.
In this round of Trustee recruitment, we are particularly interested in hearing from people with skills or experience in legal, cultural management and development, local business networks, fundraising and philanthropy, or property management. However, if your skills lie outside those listed, we would still like to hear from you. Our customers come from all walks of life and so do we. We want to recruit Trustees from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because it is the right thing to do, but because it makes MAKE Southwest stronger.
What difference will you make?
By becoming a Trustee at MAKE Southwest, you will help shape the future of contemporary craft, ensuring creativity, heritage skills and education continue to thrive across the Southwest. Your expertise will support a nationally recognised charity to inspire thousands of people each year, champion exceptional makers, and create opportunities for communities to learn, create and connect through craft.
Before you apply
To begin the conversation, we are asking you to send us an expression of interest. This can be a letter of no more than two pages. Alternatively, you are welcome to send a video or audio of no more than 5 minutes via wetransfer.com to hello@makesouthwest.org.uk.
Your expression of interest should include: Why you would like to join the board, what you think you would bring to the organisation and how your skills could support the board and team in achieving our vision, as well as a short CV, the work you do and your previous experience. It would be great to hear from you. Thank you again for your interest in MAKE Southwest.
Selection Process
Once you have submitted your expression of interest, we will review your application and set up an informal chat with you. We can then go through the next steps.
