Come and see MAKE Southwest Maker Member & printmaker Hilary Paynter working on some wood engraving blocks over the Easter weekend!

Hilary is exhibiting as part of the Society of Wood Engravers 87th Annual Exhibition, which will be on show in our Riverside Gallery. She will be happy to talk to visitors about her printmaking and the exhibition.

The Society of Wood Engravers was founded in 1920 by a group of distinguished artists, including Lucien Pissarro, Gwen Raverat and Eric Gill. The purpose was to encourage the practice and patronage of wood engraving by organising exhibitions, which included both what were thought of as fine art prints, and also illustrations. The role of the Society remains fundamentally unchanged.

The Annual Exhibition features original prints stringently selected from an open submission, including some MAKE Southwest Maker Members. All work is for sale.
