THE PANDEMIC EFFECT

As things were starting to close down I made sure I had sufficient materials, especially wood veneers, to continue working during lockdown. This gave me a sense of security in that I could remain productive should I not be able to get out and about. I have remained busy making and been able to develop some new items such as my presentation boxes which are included in this exhibition. I guess there has been less pressure, as the key shows and craft events have all been cancelled or postponed. This has of course led to some insecurity as I accumulate the stock that I am usually selling during the year. Am I making the right things for when sales resume? Online sales through my Etsy shop have been more limited than previously but workbaskets have sold well due I believe to craft workers treating themselves and getting busy during lockdown. I am so glad that Devon Guild is there and supporting members through this difficult time and look forward to the future when we can share our creativity and meet once again with colleagues and customers.
