Large fish vases

Slab built porcelain vases using my original green, blue, copper red and Tenmoku glazes. It was fired in gas reduction atmosphere.

THE PANDEMIC EFFECT

I made a few normal size Fish Vases (25cm high) for ‘From th e Deep Sea’ exhibition in Plymouth, starting just before the lockdown. When the lockdown happened and all the craft fairs this year were cancelled, I thought, “This is a great opportunity to make some large coil built pieces which will be difficult to sell”. I can only fire two tall large pieces at one time in my kiln, so there is still space around them in the kiln for something tall and thin. So I decided to create two extra tall Fish Vases using my slab built technique. That is how these Extra Tall Fish Vases (40cm high) came into the world.
