THE PANDEMIC EFFECT
After a busy January and February trying to find a balance between teaching commitments and studio time, the slowing down, the stillness and calm of lockdown felt like a gift at first. I’ve always liked working alone, going for walks, reading, and doing all those quiet things, but the walks became longer and I noticed more. I am acutely aware of how lucky I am. I have a studio at home, so I could carry on working. But after a few months I started to miss teaching and being out in the world! This year has made me realise how fortunate I am to have that balance in my life, to be able to share my skills and the joy of making books with others, as well as spending time working quietly by myself. I hope to regain that balance in the future.
