Jenny is a ceramicist working from a small studio at the home she shares with her young family in Wiltshire.
She works predominantly with stoneware clay, mainly making hand-thrown pieces on the wheel and firing in an electric kiln.
Jenny is influenced by many things from everyday life including; Nature and the Ancient Landscapes surrounding where she lives, 20th Century Architecture, Design and Public Art are a strong reference, and she loves the freedom and naivety of Folk and Outsider-Art.
Having a solid basis in traditional craft and technique, Jenny makes simple, useful vessels, with a strong contemporary, almost playful design element. Her current working techniques are largely inspired by her background in printmaking, using coloured slips (liquid clay) and paper cut-outs as stencils. She builds up patterns shape by shape, layering to create a spontaneous designs. Therefore, all pieces of her ceramics are unique.
Jenny hopes her work to be beautiful, joyful and a pleasure to have and to use.
