Paper Making: a way into sustainable craft

Workshop with In The Making

Saturday 8 February 2025, 2pm - 4.30pm

£35

Venue: MAKE Southwest

Suitable for: Adults

Level: All Abilities

Join MAKING IT 2025 exhibitors, Tressa Thomas and Maia Walton (collaboratively, In The Making) to learn how to make unique paper from your very own paper waste materials.

Feel like you want to do more to make your creative practice eco-friendly? Interested in the Green Makers Initiative? Keen to have a go at paper-making? Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced artist, this workshop is for anyone curious about sustainable making processes.

This workshop will teach participants a zero-waste, low-tech process for making paper. We will process old paper waste to make new, textured, and unique sheets of paper. This event is ideal for practicing artists, hobbyists, and community members with an interest in expanding their craft knowledge.

Participants will be asked to bring in their own paper waste for reprocessing!

Please wear clothing suitable for messy work and potentially sitting on the floor (optional).

Paper made during the workshop can be left to dry and collected from MSW (if participants live within the locality), for those participants who live further away we can post you outcomes to you once they have dried.

This workshop is open to all abilities and no previous experience of paper making is necessary.

All workshop participants must be aged 18 years +
